I was very excited to find a cache of 2B Black Velvet pencils. I know you don’t understand, but I fell in love with the smooth lines and rich blacks when I was 16. They are one of the precious few quality artist pencils that actually include an eraser. I suppose most manufacturers think that artists must already have erasers handy? Eberhard Faber stopped production of Black Velvet pencils about 10 years ago. In my mid-twenties, I bought the last two boxes I could find, at discount no less, and have never seen them since…

That is one thing to be said for moving. You end up throwing out things you should have discarded long ago, and if you’re lucky you also find things you forgot you had.

I wonder what else I’ve squirreled away.

30 started out alright but turned nasty half way through. 31… just plain sucked. It will not be spoken of again. As far as I am concerned I was in a coma.

The first day of my 32nd year went pretty damn well. I started a new job. (sit down!) Though it is a signifigant pay cut, it is also not retail! From what I can see there is ample room for advancement in any one of several directions. I hope that with experience in this new field, I can also rely on my years of HR or Management experience and get myself promoted.

So, here is to learning from the past and repeating only the entertaining mistakes. Here is to the future!

Don’t get me wrong, computer graphics is fun… but that was alot of vector work! These will be exposed on a photopolymer plate and a mold pulled of the plate. I will cast the glyphs in resin and attach them to my Mummy Key, paint et voila, c’est finis!
