According to ZDNet.de, Intel Germany CEO Hannes Schwaderer confirmed that Apple would be using the Intel Atom processor in a future version of the iPhone. The new model will reportedly be a larger model with a larger display, correlating with circulating rumors about a mini-tablet (720×480) device rumored to be coming from Apple. English translation:
As part of an Intel event for the 40th birthday of the semiconductor company at Munich’s BMW World, Germany managing director Hannes Schwaderer confirmed today what has long been a rumor on the Internet: namely, that there is an iPhone with Intel’s new Atom chip. The device is slightly larger than the current version, Schwaderer said. That is not, however, because of the Intel chip, but because of the larger display used in the new iPhone.
He goes on to say that an upgraded version of the current form factor of iPhone would also exist as a 3G-model.While Schwaderer calls the larger device a “version of the iPhone”, it seems clear that it refers to the rumored mini-tablet device. Some rumors have suggested that it would be introduced at WWDC.
Oh Dear Lord, Please!
Aw nuts… Apple denied rumors of an Intel Atom based tablet device. More waiting then.

Only yesterday, I caught myself telling my mother, “Oh, it’s alright. I’m not too concerned with job hunting right now.”
‘Course I said that after being on vacation for 12 days. I guess I’d forgotten. I am back in the grind. I am supposed to run the store, even though this store already has a store manger. I’m not enormously fond of this guy… he sweats alot. He never means what he says and he must have been unbeatable in dodgeball. Nothing it’s impossible to nail him with anything…
Well, I’ve been in worse situations, much worse, and at least I have a reasonably good chance at bonusing now
Still, FWIW, I am always job hunting.
BTW. I have a Sony MZ-R50 MiniDisc Player/ recorder on eBay. I went with a long auction to help give it some exposure. I set the opening bid obscenely low, so there won’t be any bids for a while. There are however 3 people watching it. So… happy thoughts. It works fine, its in great shape. I’ve just been assimilated to the ways of AAC’s and MP3’s.

Being off work or school for an extended period always plays hell with my circadian rhythms, but this is absurd. Why else would I get out of bed at 3am to work on a project, only to stop in order to let fresh glue dry.
I must be freaking insane…

12hrs nonstop, but I’ve almost completed cleaning up, and unpacking
, my studio space. I’ve found a few projects that I would still like to complete, found things I had thought I’d lost… and found supplies that I will never, ever, have to stock up on … ever again.
It feels as though there’s more room to work, I don’t know why since most of the cleaning was in the closet, the computer bookshelf, or under a desk, but I’ll take it. Until I find out which store I’m working at, and until rent drops a bit on the NW side of town… I’m not going anywhere.
A month or two ago, while I was in El Paso, one of my Sun/Moon jars from ThinkGeek took a header into the hardwood floor of my living room. It didn’t go well for the jar. The electronics weren’t damaged so I carefully removed the glass shards and set the remainder aside. I figured I would eventually find a Jar with the right diameter mouth that I could transplant the electronics into. It would have been easier if I had ever actually measured for the diameter required. This morning I was running errands and decided to check out the Container Store’s offerings. Not only did I find one that looked like it might work, but it was almost identical to the original! I just need to see about sandblasting or etching the glass and you will never know that it is on it’s second life. Call me simple, but that seemed to make the Sun shine for the rest of the day.
I’m still working on the Key to Hamunaptra. The mechanics could be complete very soon, if I can just source an absurdly small and extremely strong magnet. So where am I going to find a 1/8″- 3/16″ neodymium magnet rated N50, without having to buy 50 of them?

Everything, Life, The Universe
Vacation.
Let me say that again.
VACATION.
I am, finally, on vacation. I am happy to report that I’ve gotten a little done, but not so much as to forget that I’m not supposed to be getting anything done. …I really wish I could fall asleep before 2am however.
I still want to see a movie or two, and grab some time with an old, and much too forgiving, friend, but I’m not in any kind of hurry.
I finally bought a WaterField Designs bag. With some patient guidance from Gary, SFBags.com’s proprieter, I found a sleeve case suitable for my birthday present from my parents; a BlueTooth digital tablet from Wacom. Pics are up on Flickr if you’re interested.
I bought myself a Chumby at last. Well my sister was buying her second, I could hardly help it could I? If you’re not inclined to click the link, let me explain. A Chumby is an open-source web enabled device, presenting any information desired in the form of Flash-based widgets. It also includes access to internet radio streams and a clock with advanced functions. With two USB ports, Chumby can also recharge most USB devices and read from an iPod. The sound output is remarkable considering the diminutive speakers on the back. I’ve already all but retired my old alarm clock.
I am still wandering in the general direction of tinkering with microcontrollers. Sadly this also means I need to re-learn C and learn about the Processing language. I’ve bought a few unassembled Arduino clone kits with which I will learn, and to that end I treated myself to an… excessive? …soldering station. Did I need such a high end model? No, but since when has need been the only determining factor in my purchase of a tool? (Besides it’s not like I ever pay retail.) My name is Thomas and I’m addicted to tools. ..and technology ..and the internet ..and “House.” (and here I thought I didn’t have an addictive personality.)
I have be slowly reclaiming zones of my apartment from clutter and debris. It feels like I have moved back to SA, which I suppose, is in essence correct. Tomorrow I will sort through several boxes, and consolidate or discard a variety of computer cables and assorted hardware.
I hope to have my old Sony MiniDisc player ready for ebay by next Monday. I’m not asking much for it, but I will never use it again and just can’t bring myself to disassemble it.
I like this vacation thing… too bad I can’t get paid for no being at wok more often.
